HTC’s upcoming flagship may have just been benchmarked

The latest from HTC is due in just a few weeks, which has resulted in a barrage of leaks from a bevy of different internet corners recently. It’s possible the Taiwanese OEM might be throwing us entirely off-base with decoys, or it’s possible we’ve hit the nail on the head again and again. But what we do know is that the leaks are incoming, and that’s not about to change anytime soon. The most recent information we’ve gleaned about the upcoming One M9 (Hima, perhaps?) comes in the form of a Geekbench benchmark. An HTC phone we suspect is the flagship in question has been sent through the benchmarking suite, revealing some crucial information about itself that we’ve been scrambling for.
Unsurprisingly, Geekbench reports the phone’s SoC as an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 clocked at 1.55 GHz, as well as a hefty 3GB serving of RAM. It currently runs a build of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, though software is something that’s constantly changing until the launch – this is one metric that remains fluid.
While the benchmarked phone almost certainly is a pre-production unit without the optimization retail devices will have, it may be worth mentioning anyway that the phone was able to achieve a single-core score of 1232 and a multi-core score of 3587 when tested with Geekbench. For comparison, that’s slightly below the 1520/5478 score a supposed Galaxy S6 flaunted, but these numbers are likely to mean nothing until the phones are officially released.
We’re once again left waiting for HTC’s March 1 press conference in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress for more information, but what we do know is that this phone is shaping up to be quite the powerhouse.
