Atlassian announces Hipchat Server

Atlassian is looking to really push Hipchat this year, as the company plans to triple the team dedicated to this specific product over the course of this year. It will be a long road, but they have started their year with the announcement of Hipchat Server.

This new service is simply Hipchat, but specialized for users who need to run their communication tools from their own network, as opposed to Atlassian’s servers. Businesses can now install a virtual machine that would run the Hipchat messaging service. Otherwise, the service will look and work exactly the same.

Prices will start at $10 for up to 10 users, which happens to be a very affordable price for something like Hipchat Server.

Opinion: We happen to use Hipchat at Mobile Geeks, so we are putting our money where our mouth is. This is one hell of a service!
