ASUS’ next smartwatch to have a 7-day battery life

ASUS has high hopes to break through the smartphone market with the affordableZenFone 2, but they are not only focusing on their phone market share. ASUS is aiming very high in terms of wearables.
ASUS’ very own Jonney Shih said that the company is aiming to bring 7-day battery life to the next-generation smart watch. This would be accomplished by using a simplified chip and tinkering with the software.
“The ZenWatch is defined by us as a companion to a smartphone, and we think it still has a lot of room for improvement. As a companion device, its central processing unit and operating system should be more simplified than the current version, so that I can use it for up to seven days on one charge, rather than for just two days.” -Jonney Shih
Opinion: 7 days of battery life is simply unheard of, but I believe it could be done with enough tinkering. I also believe it would be much easier if manufacturers stopped being so obsessed with LCD displays on a smart watch.
